About the MASHOF Golf Scramble
The Memphis Amateur Sports Hall of Fame Golf Scramble is currently the only fundraiser the Hall of Fame. For the last several years we have had no major sponsors for our organization, so this gives the golf tournament increased significance. All profits from this event help fund the Annual Induction Banquet. We cannot thank our sponsors enough for contributing to the success of the tournament and the banquet.
Since 1970, people like you have generously helped the Memphis Amateur Sports Hall of Fame recognize deserving candidates for induction into this prestigious organization. The Hall of Fame also participates in community outreach programs that promote athletics in the Memphis Metropolitan area. In addition, the Hall of Fame awards scholarships to deserving student/athletes at our annual awards banquet.
The Links at Galloway hosted a record-setting 32 teams on a chilly overcast, but rain-free day October 24, 2025. A GREAT tourney thanks to the strong leadership of Chairman Steve Ganong and his committee of volunteers, and much appreciated support from PGA professional Sean McFetridge and his staff.
The tourney honored one of our own, the late CURTIS PERSON, SR, winner of 129 aamateur golf championships worldwide, including two USGA Senior Amateur titles. Person has been acclaimed by Golf Digest as the winningest amateur in the history of golf and acclaimed him to be “the greatest senior golfer the game has ever known”. Daughter Patty Person Wray was on hand to speak about her father and thank the MASHOF for remembering and honoring him.
Financial success to support the Memphis Amateur Sports Hall of Fame’s contribution to our scholarship program, several youth sports activities and other projects is assured. Special thanks to our Platinum Sponsor, BRUSSELS BONSAI NURSERY, and to our many other special sponsors. These include Jason’s Deli, Super-Lo Foods, Love Worth Finding Ministries, McAllister’s Deli, IBEW Local #474,Town Village, Mitchell Spurlock, Gephart Electric, Grace Construction, S&S Electric, Memphis Police Federation, Stoney River, and Dan Richards. Many MASHOF members and other businesses were tee sign sponsors.
Additional special thanks go out to Linda Street, Lynn Alford, Glen Greenwell, Charlie McCulley, Jan Averwater and Chris Luhrs for going “above and beyond” to assure the success of our only fund-raiser.
