Lloyd Sowell Memorial Golf Tournament

The 30th Lloyd Sowell Memorial Golf Scramble was held at The Links at Galloway on November 5, 2021 under the direction of Richard Harty, Chairman. Thirty teams, 120 golfers, competed in a very successful tournament on a beautiful day.

The MASHOF greatly appreciates our corporate sponsor, StaffAmerica and its founder and CEO Mr. Eric Shapiro. In addition, we were privileged to have the support of other local-area businesses. Jason’s Deli provided lunch and Super Lo Foods donated all beverages. Power Transports was also a significant sponsor. Special award sponsors were Frida’s Mexican Restaurant, Belly Acres Restaurant, Stix Restaurant, McAlister’s Deli and Town Village at Audubon Park. In addition, we had over fifty $100 hole sponsors.

MASHOF member Jerry Melton and Principle Toyota provided the 2022 Toyota Camry and other hole-in-one prizes.

The Lloyd Sowell Memorial Golf Tournament is currently the only fundraiser the Hall of Fame. For the last several years we have had no major sponsors for our organization, so this gives the golf tournament increased significance. All profits from this event help fund the Annual Induction Banquet. We cannot thank our sponsors enough for contributing to the success of the tournament and the banquet.

Since 1970, people like you have generously helped the Memphis Amateur Sports Hall of Fame recognize deserving candidates for induction into this prestigious organization. The Hall of Fame also participates in community outreach programs that promote athletics in the Memphis Metropolitan area. In addition, the Hall of Fame awards scholarships to deserving student/athletes at our annual awards banquet.
